Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Entebbe, Uganda
Arrive at Entebbe International Airport. Entebbe is located on the shores of Lake Victoria, Africa’s largest lake. The city hosts the State House, the Uganda Wildlife Education Centre, and the Botanical Gardens. Overnight in Entebbe.
Day 2: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Fly or drive to the southwestern region of Uganda. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its biodiversity, including over 120 mammal species and more than 200 butterfly species. It is one of the few places in the world to see mountain gorillas. Overnight near the park.
Day 3: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi
Morning briefing by park rangers, followed by gorilla tracking. The park has a number of habituated gorilla families. Tracking durations vary and can take from 2 to 8 hours. The park’s elevation ranges from 1,160 to 2,607 metres above sea level. Overnight near the park.
Day 4: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
Drive north to Queen Elizabeth National Park. The park is Uganda’s most visited, covering approximately 1,978 km². It is home to over 600 bird species and around 95 mammal species. The park is known for the Kazinga Channel and its tree-climbing lions in the Ishasha sector. Overnight in the park.
Day 5: Game Drives and Boat Safari
Morning game drive in Kasenyi or Mweya sectors. Wildlife sightings may include elephants, buffaloes, warthogs, and Uganda kob. Afternoon boat safari on the Kazinga Channel, a 32 km natural channel connecting Lake Edward and Lake George. Overnight in the park.
Day 6: Flight or Transfer to Nairobi, Kenya
Return to Entebbe and take a scheduled flight to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi, Kenya. Nairobi is Kenya’s capital and the regional hub for commerce and transport. Optional visit to the Nairobi National Museum or the Nairobi National Park, located within city limits. Overnight in Nairobi.
Day 7: Transfer to Masai Mara National Reserve
Drive or fly to Masai Mara, located in southwestern Kenya. The reserve spans over 1,500 km² and borders Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park. It is part of the Greater Mara Ecosystem, known for the annual wildebeest migration between July and October. Overnight at a lodge or camp within or near the reserve.
Day 8: Full-Day Safari in Masai Mara
Morning and afternoon game drives. Common sightings include lions, elephants, zebras, giraffes, wildebeests, and cheetahs. The area consists of open grasslands, seasonal rivers, and acacia-dotted plains. The Mara River runs through the reserve. Overnight in the reserve.
Day 9: Transfer to Lake Naivasha
Drive to Lake Naivasha in the Great Rift Valley. The lake is a freshwater body situated at 1,884 metres above sea level. It is known for its hippo population and wide variety of birdlife. Optional visit to Crescent Island or nearby Hells Gate National Park. Overnight near the lake.
Day 10: Return to Nairobi and Departure
Drive back to Nairobi. Depending on flight time, optional stops at the Giraffe Centre or local craft markets. Transfer to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for outbound flight.
